Ginny felt life was over. After her husband died, she saw little hope for the future. A friend referred Ginny and her children to Bridges, where bereavement services and support groups helped them see they were not alone. Tom used alcohol to cope with stress. Tom was on the verge of losing his family and his job. Bridges’ addiction services helped him get back on track and into AA where he is now confronting his illness day by day. Jim couldn’t hold a job and was a loner. A lifelong battle with mental illness had made Jim belligerent and suspicious. His Clinician at Bridges helped stabilize him with therapy and medications. Jim has now made friends and is more independent. His aging parents no longer worry about the time when they may be unable to care for him. Kaitlin was moody, irritable and anxious. She talked about plane crashes all the time after September 11 th. Kaitlin and her parents went through brief counseling at Bridges to help them work through Kaitlin’s fears together. Since then she has been much calmer. Her parents feel confident that they can guide her through any future occurrences.
